The Oklahoma City Thunder clinched a berth in the Western Conference semifinals with a 118-110 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 9 of their first-round series.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 30 points, while Darius Bazley added 25 and Josh Giddey chipped in with 20. LeBron James led the Lakers with 28 points, while Anthony Davis added 23.
The Thunder took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Lakers 35-21. They held on to their lead in the fourth quarter, despite a late rally by the Lakers.
The Thunder will now face the Phoenix Suns in the Western Conference semifinals. The Suns are the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference and are one of the favorites to win the NBA championship.
The Lakers, meanwhile, will have to wait until next season to try to make another run at the title. They have a lot of work to do in the offseason, but they have a lot of talent on their roster and should be competitive next season.
